European Economics Preview: German GfK Consumer Confidence Data Due



Consumer confidence from Germany and GDP figures from the U.K. are due on Wednesday, headlining a light day for the European economic news.


At 2.45 am ET, the French statistical office is set to issue consumer confidence survey data. The confidence index is expected to remain unchanged at 85 in November.


At 3.00 am ET, Spain’s retail sales data for October is due. Retail sales increased 2.2 percent year-on-year in September. In the meantime, Hungary’s unemployment figures are due.


Statistics Sweden is scheduled to release foreign trade figures for October at 3.30 am ET. The trade surplus is expected to rise to SEK 6 billion from SEK 5.6 billion in September.


At 4.00 am ET, Germany’s GfK consumer sentiment is due. The forward-looking index is forecast to rise to 7.1 in December from 7 in November.


At 4.30 am ET, the Office for National Statistics is scheduled to release U.K. GDP figures for the third quarter. The ONS is expected to confirm 0.8 percent sequential growth for the third quarter.


At 6.00 am ET, the Confederation of British Industry is set to release distributive trade survey data.
