Italian Consumer Sentiment Strengthens In January



Italian consumer confidence strengthened more than expected in January, survey data from Istat showed Tuesday.


The corresponding index rose to 98 in January from 96.4 in December. The score was forecast to rise to 96.7.


Within the confidence index, economic climate fell to 92 from 92.9 a month ago. Meanwhile, personal climate rose to 100.3 from 97.3 and current assessment came in at 99, up from 95. At the same time, future expectations gained marginally to 97.5 from 97.4.


The balance concerning expectations on unemployment tended to be stable to 67. Finally, the balance on inflation expectations for next 12 months increased to -7 from -11.
