At 4.30 am ET Tuesday, the Office for National Statistics is slated to release fourth quarter U.K. GDP data. The economy is forecast to expand 0.7 percent sequentially, slower than the 0.8 percent rise in the previous quarter.
Ahead of the data, the pound showed mixed trading against other major currencies. While the pound pared early gains against the greenback, it advanced against rest of major currencies.
The pound was worth 1.6593 against the greenback, 171.12 against the yen, 1.4905 against the franc and 0.8233 against the euro at 4:25 am ET.
