Austria Manufacturing PMI Drops In October

Austria’s manufacturing sector contracted at a faster rate in October, survey figures from Markit Economics showed Thursday.

The Bank Austria manufacturing purchasing managers’ index, or PMI, came in at 46.9 in October, less than the 47.9 in September.

Production and new orders declined at the fastest rate in 19 and 24 months, respectively. Consequently, the rate of job shedding was sharpest since July 2013 in October.

On the price front, input costs declined for the first time since May. Output prices dropped further in October.
